ADAM: Michael Dorn will indeed reprise his role as Dr. Burke during February sweeps. But what brings Beckett back to his couch? Well, it’s not because of any problems with Castle. Instead, it will be another run-in with Sen. Bracken (guest star Jack Coleman) that sends Beckett back to therapy. “A murder seems to lead to his doorstep and Kate thinks this her opportunity to finally get the man who was responsible for her mother’s murder behind bars,” creator Andrew W. Marlowe, adding that Beckett may once again find herself out of control. “Nothing is as it seems,” he says. “The case leads us into really interesting moral territory for our character.”

According to a Dec. 8 tweet from "Castle" camera operator Andrew Bikichky, in response to a fan query about Kate Beckett's therapist, fans can expect "Star Trek" alum Michael Dorn to reprise the role of Dr. Carter Burke in the thirteenth episode of the season. Dorn was last seen in April episode "Headhunters", where he helped a very confused and frustrated Beckett figure out what to do next when it came to her and Castle.
Not much is currently known about episode 5x13 yet—not even the title—but the thirteenth episode of a season has been famously known for pertaining to the Johanna Beckett murder conspiracy (with the exception of Season 4, where it was episode 4x12 instead.) It was recently revealed by TV Guide that Senator Bracken (played by Jack Coleman) would be making a reappearance on the show in February, which could possibly line up for a 5x13 return of both Bracken and Dr. Burke in the same episode.
With Beckett now knowing the identity of the man behind her mother's murder, but being unable to do anything about bringing him to justice over it just yet, it goes without saying that a little guidance from Dr. Burke may be in order. Her mother's murder has always been rather toxic to her mental and emotional state, and revisiting it is bound to bring along some more inner turmoil.
